The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is essential to the health and wellbeing of Australians living in 80 percent of the country an area the size of western Europe.
Experience the RFDS on a guided tour of its base. These tours run continuously so you won't miss out. You can also watch RFDS activities showcased in film and in historic detail in the Mantle of Safety Museum.
It is a fascinating story of a uniquely Australian venture. As the first of its kind in the world it had its beginning in Queensland in May 1928.
Developed on a national basis in the 1930's, the Service soon provided for the people of the Inland not only medical aid in emergencies, but also a comprehensive health care and community service.
