Getting here

Peterborough is in the middle of everywhere!

Originally an agricultural holding, Peterborough was founded in 1880 when it was decided that it would be the site of a railway junction - an intersection between the Broken Hill to Port Pirie and the Adelaide to Alice Springs lines.

Its perfect position made it one of the busiest towns in Australia, and in its hey-day it supported a larger population than Melbourne.

To this day, Peterborough's great central location places it on the tourist path for those travelling from all corners of Australia.

This section is provided to support you as you travel to Peterborough from a large number of our neighbours, including Broken Hill, the Riverland, the Flinders Ranges, Port Pirie and Augusta, Adelaide and the Clare and Barossa Valleys.
