The two cottages sit up behind the old Criterion Hotel, built in 1856 and now a private holiday house.
CRITERION COTTAGE has been restored and extended to provide 2 bedrooms (sleeping 4), and a spacious, sunny north facing living room with enclosed patio. A cosy sitting room with a log fire in the winter months creates a lovely ambience. The loft bedroom with a Queen size bed and balcony has far reaching views over Guichen Bay.
CORNERSTONE COTTAGE has a large sitting room with slow combustion heater, and a sun room overlooking an enclosed garden. There is a double bedroom with a Queen size bed and two twin bedrooms, sleeping six altogether.
All linen, firewood, electric blankets, laundry facilities, television and DVD player are provided. Provisions for a cooked and continental breakfast each day are available for you to have at your leisure.
The cottages are in the centre of the old township, near Main Beach, with views of Guichen Bay, which was discovered by Nicholas Baudin in 1802. A large crayfishing fleet operates throughout the summer months from the harbour, which is a secure haven for boats of all kinds.
The town has excellent shops and restaurants. Swimming is safe within the bay at Main Beach. There are also wonderful and unpopulated ocean beaches and National Parks. The winter climate is the mildest in the South East of South Australia.
