Lake Butler

  • location icon Lake Butler Robe SA 5275

Lake Butler was once a natural lake, where fishermen moored their boats in Guichen Bay in the summer and pulled them up over the dunes to moor in Lake Butler during the winter.

With the commercial fishery growing in importance after the Second World War a channel to the sea was opened up in 1964, making Lake Butler available for safe mooring all year round.

Additional development in the early 2000s has resulted in the Lake Butler Marina being established serving the commercial fishery and recreational boat owners. Facilities at the marina are continually being upgraded resulting in the most picturesque safe harbor for boats within the Limestone Coast.

Casual moorings, fuel and other services for boaties are available at the Marina
